DesignBoard Attracts Self-Builders At Build It Live

It’s the visitors to Build It Live who make it a rather different show from others we’ve attended this year. “Everyone is there specifically for self-build,” says DesignBoard General Manager Antony Pasquini. “Many are aiming to build themselves the house of a lifetime.”

With all the shows we’ve done, we’ve developed a good idea of what attracts people to our contemporary decking. “People like the look of it,” explains Antony, “and it’s got a popular installation method.” That’s the easy-to-use invisible clipping system that ensures the gaps are completely even between boards, creating an immediately professional finish. It’s not just the look, though. “DesignBoard feels solid. It’s dense and quite heavy too,” adds Antony. That makes for a reassuringly quality feel.

As you’ll know from previous show reports, we like to set up the stand to show how our composite decking can fit into your lifestyle. It’s designed so you can see what it might look like “in real life”.

There are various options on how to use a matching fascia with the boards. One of the small details that draws attention is our decision to use the Open Face Edge Profile around the edge of the stand. This is where the fascia is installed underneath the board, leaving the aluminium edging strip exposed, creating a neat detail that adds a particularly contemporary vibe to installation.

“People do love the stand,” says Antony, who’s got to hear opinions at a number of shows now. “No one else is setting up a little garden space.” We find this really helps people to picture where DesignBoard would fit into their home.

Build It Live runs three shows a year around the country, so keep your eye open for them next year. In the meantime, contact us for more information and free samples of DesignBoard contemporary decking.
